Hello. Yesterday, something happened that was strange - but it was not the 1st time, I think it has happened to me once before... CA was entirely running fine but at some point, the modem went offline and stopped working. I discovered this when a call that should have been screened managed to ring through. CA did not show it in its call history but it showed up on my caller id box and in my local telco's call history log.
I personally run CA on Ubuntu inside of an Oracle virtual box. And when I checked the UI of that virtual box, I saw an error dialog that popped up saying something to the extent that the RS-232 port had failed in some way. Sadly, I did not capture the details or an image of that dialog. But it was clear that the virtual box was otherwise fine and running as normal - including CA - at least to the extent that the web server was working...
It strikes me that this may NOT be a virtual box-only problem - that the modem could go offline for any number of reasons and that CA would not necessarily know it. I know from personal experience that if the modem is not working at the time of CA startup, that fact is displayed in the CA web UI. But I don't think I saw anything like that nor am I sure that CA tries to (or even if it can) detect this condition.
I MAY personally be able to trap the virtual box error - if I can repeat it - and send myself an email or some notification if that is the case. But it would be great if CA can detect and highlight this issue.
Best...
