Over the last several days, I have noted something new in our CA call log...
As you can see below, there are repeated calls, at various time intervals, from the exact same number. Of course, there may also be a smattering of other junk calls per usual.
Our local telco gives the caller id "name" as "Potential Spam". As such, our CA is set to just block the call. It goes off hook, plays a "message" of about 15 seconds of silence and then hangs-up.
Until now, I'd have said that a pattern like this is likely the result of a legitimate caller being improperly blocked and them trying back again and again. So when I see this I:
Google the number - in these cases, there is no clear owner of the number.
Call that number from my cell phone, not the land line - in these cases, a recording says "the number is not in service".
From this, I think it is a safe bet that these are junk calls despite the pattern.
