Analysis Data

This is a list of columns included in /data/assessments.csv, which we used in our analyses and is a cleaned version of the original CPRA response.

column	description
Unique_client_ID	From the LAHSA CPRA response. A unique number, though unclear if this actually corresponds to an actual client ID.
Race/Ethnicity	Based on Race and Ethnicity in the original LAHSA CPRA response.
Veteran status	From the LAHSA CPRA response.
SPA	From the LAHSA CPRA response. A service planning area.
Gender	From the LAHSA CPRA response.
Age_group_at_assessment	Based on Age_at_assessment in the original LAHSA CPRA response.
Intervention	From the LAHSA CPRA response.
InterventionYear	Based on Intervention_Date in the original LAHSA CPRA response. The year the intervention occurred. In some cases, no intervention date was given.
AssessmentPredatesIntervention	Based on AssessmentDate and Intervention_Date in the original LAHSA CPRA response. A boolean flag that is True if the given AssessmentDate is before or the same date as Intervention_Date, and False if either that is not the case or if Intervention_Date is blank.
AssessmentName	From the LAHSA CPRA response. Either CES for Individuals - CES Survey Part 1 or CES for Youth - Next Step Tool.
AssessmentYear	Based on AssessmentDate in the original LAHSA CPRA response. The year the assessment occurred.
Acuity	Based on TOTAL_SCORE in the original LAHSA CPRA response. For a more detailed explanation of how we categorized scores for each assessment type, see the “Acuity Group” Categorization section in the methodology.
AcuityScore	From the LAHSA CPRA response.
TOTAL_SCORE	From the LAHSA CPRA response.
GENERAL_SUB_SCORE	From the LAHSA CPRA response.

CALC_TOTAL_SCORE	The sum of CALC_HISTORY_SUB_SCORE, CALC_RISK_SUB_SCORE, CALC_SOCIALIZATION_SUB_SCORE, CALC_WELLNESS_SUB_SCORE and GENERAL_SUB_SCORE.
CALC_HISTORY_SUB_SCORE	The sum of CALC_HISTORY_SLEEPING_LOCATION and CALC_HISTORY_HISTORY_OF_HOMELESSNESS for both assessments.
CALC_HISTORY_SLEEPING_LOCATION	Based on Where do you and your family sleep most frequently? and 5. Where do you sleep most frequently? (NST) from the LAHSA CPRA response.
CALC_HISTORY_HISTORY_OF_HOMELESSNESS	Based on How long has it been since you and your family lived in permanent stable housing? and In the last three years, how many times have you and your family been homeless? from the LAHSA CPRA response.
CALC_RISKS_SUB_SCORE	The sum of CALC_RISKS_EMERGENCY_SERVICE_USE, CALC_RISKS_RISK_OF_HARM, CALC_RISKS_LEGAL_ISSUES and CALC_RISKS_RISK_OF_EXPLOITATION for both assessments.
CALC_RISKS_EMERGENCY_SERVICE_USE	Based on In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family received health care at an emergency department/room?, In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family taken an ambulance to the hospital?, In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family been hospitalized as an inpatient?, In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family used a crisis service, including sexual assault?, In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family talked to police because they witnessed a crime,? and In the past six months, how many times have you or anyone in your family stayed one or more nights in a holding cell,jail...? in the LAHSA CPRA response.

CALC_SOCIALIZATION_SUB_SCORE	The sum of CALC_SOCIALIZATION_MONEY_MANAGEMENT, CALC_SOCIALIZATION_MEANINGFUL_DAILY_ACTIVITY, CALC_SOCIALIZATION_SELFCARE, CALC_SOCIALIZATION_SOCIAL_RELATIONSHIPS and CALC_SOCIALIZATION_USE_TRAUMA.
CALC_SOCIALIZATION_MONEY_MANAGEMENT	Based on Is there any person, past landlord, business, bookie, dealer, or government group like the IRS that thinks you or anyone...? and Do you or anyone in your family get any money from the government, a pension, an inheritance, working under the table,...? from the LAHSA CPRA response

CALC_SOCIALIZATION_SELFCARE	Based on Is everyone in your family currently able to take care of basic needs like bathing, changing clothes, using a restroom...? from the LAHSA CPRA response.
