I know this issue is quite old, but the problem still persists in Internet Explorer, including the newer version 11. I see that this issue has also been reported at least two different times.

After a quick search it's seems that IE complains about the embedding level of the font
Luckily there is this tool which allows to change the embedding level of a TrueType font, according to Microsoft's TrueType Specifications.
