Trouble launching xash

[strawhatrin]

Fresh install of half-life, launched beforehand, followed the very few steps. When attempting to launch "xash3d" out of the half-life folder, I am greeted with 4 errors.

"invalid mode, engine will run"
"could not revert to safe"
"^1Error:^7 Can't initialize ref_gl.dll"
"Host_InitError: Can't initialize any renderer. Check your Video"

I have 2070 and drivers are up to date

im also hitting a brick wall when trying to run the mod. fresh HL1 install and followed each step but getting Sys_Crash when trying to start the game with xash3d.exe
im using RTX 4070
