[bug]: tons of fake folders in mailbox

What happened?

I have a few mailboxes which automatically create tons of fake folders.

There are lots and lots of randomly named folders which all contain a full set of folders which you normally have in a mailbox. Those folders can't be deleted, have no use and are empty. From time to time even more of those folders just show up.

The users behind this mailboxes are just regular users like everyone else in the Active Directory.

How can we reproduce the problem?

I have not found any way to reproduce this issue. It just appears randomly.

Set the log level to trace and check which one of your clients is creating those folders.

Actually, these look like shared accounts that Stalwart was not able to obtain their full name from Active Directory. Check also the logs to see if there are errors. Also verify the LDAP queries you have configured and the column mappings.

I was looking at the log since weeks and had no indication where this comes from. In the AD there are no shared accounts configured and have never been in the organization. The LDAP queries and mappings should be correct according to the documentation which Microsoft provides.

Those folders you're seeing are probably the groups the account is member of. If you want to disable groups, you can remove the memberOf column mapping.

The Group mapping is a mandatory field and can't be removed. I just entered blub into it. This indeed fixed the issue.
After saving and reloading a folder named "foldertest" with some long number behind it showed up. It disappeared after restarting Thunderbird.

So if the field Group creates pain, then it should be set as optional.
