In ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/440 which is part 8 of the ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/437,
Previous encoding has reported a note by Wright (see the paragraph on the leaves shortly before the listing of the items in PDF: https://archive.org/details/catalogueofsyria02brituoft/page/837/mode/1up?view=theater; and in

in the in Xpath: /TEI/teiHeader/fileDesc/sourceDesc/msDesc/msPart/physDesc/p in XML), as follows: lower text referring thus, to ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/440 as lower part (line 975).
The same suspected typo appears in the ending

(line 985).

When compared to lines 1078 and 1093 in XML, part 9 of ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/437 that is ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/1481, it turns out that earlier description of ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/440 as lower part should have been ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/1481 for lower part.
I corrected accordingly.

Also the second

in the of https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/1185 differs from the first

and is likely to have been a typo.
1st

Four vellum leaves, ....... All palimpsest; cf. the upper text.

2nd

Four vellum leaves, ....... All palimpsest; cf. the lower text.

Here, I believe it might have been several hands typing, and over-typing, copy and paste, ....etc so, I changed the second as the first.

Please advise if I am mistaken in either of the cases above.

Finally, part 15 that is https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/444 contain special characters that cannot be displayed (see PDF: https://archive.org/details/catalogueofsyria03brituoft/page/1173/mode/1up?view=theater),
And lastly, the first footnote to the Syriac long quotation, in the same ms#part 15, has been encoded as whilst other footnotes of the same quotation where incorporated in the Syriac text.

Thanks @DA-Gharib -- the first two edits sound correct to me, thanks for catching those! This is quite a complicated manuscript and it seems like there were some copy-paste errors originally, so thank you for your detailed proofreading!

I will add the 'cannot display' label and we can keep this open to address that for part 15.

For the footnotes, let's convert these all to use a <note type="footnote"> and include at the point in the Syriac quote where the footnote would appear (i.e., where the asterisk or dagger characters are).

Thanks Will for the follow-up.
It was easy to adjust the second footnote in par# 15 of ms https://bl.syriac.uk/ms/437 (PDF: https://archive.org/details/catalogueofsyria03brituoft/page/1173/mode/1up?view=theater)
The first one, however, has been referred to as an addition, so, I should cut the

element (that I adjusted as follow):

On fol. 28a, is written in the
Margin, ΦΛΕΓΜΑ. ΦΛΕΓΜΑΤΑ, in small, neat characters

and that was found in
and then insert it in the text of
, found in
as per recommendation.
Is this correct, or should I just leave it lest I miss something?
Both work fine and do not interfere with validation and well formed rules.

I think we do want to leave the addition in, and it can be structured as follows:

<p>On fol. 28a, is written in the margin, <quote xml:lang="grc">ΦΛΕΓΜΑ. ΦΛΕΓΜΑΤΑ</quote>, in small, neat characters</p>

The same information can also be included in the footnote on msItem p15a1 -- this is somewhat repetitive, but we do want users to find the info in both places.

Deal,
It's tagged now and recorded in both references with restoration of the omitted msitem
.
Will leave it open for the display issue of part # 15.
