Validation could fail for multiple reasons and there's isn't a specific error message
we get back from the server to display to the user.
I think on the support side we can provide the troubleshooting info for yours to
diagnosis and solve whatever issue is preventing them from authenticating.
Maybe the error message can point to user to this documentation/support.
Turns out if your clock is more than 3 hours off or so, twitter will return a "Failed to validate oauth signature and token"
Ideally we should watch for this message and tell the user to fix their clock.
