just to keep you posted that, i took your idea of the preloaded host and implemented via Raspberry Pi Zero
https://github.com/PaulJenkin/PS4Pizero

Based on your comments in Twitter
"A crazy idea for "PS4 modchip" makers (that just bundle a wifi hotspot with preloaded hosts into an esp8266 chip): make your chips also emulate a usb connection and insert/remove the fake drive at the right time. This way your stuff will be finally of some use."

Thanks to your webkit i dont see any failure at all

thanks

So another offline-only jailbreaking device? Would like to see some option for configuring it to the same existing LAN.

not just offline, It emulates USB device as well.

W.r.t Existing LAN, working on the below

  1. By default the device will work as an access point
  2. Once Connected a Web page allows the user to select any local wifi network and give its password
  3. After Submission the device will join the network which will leave the PS4's Wifi and Ethernet available for local network
  4. By this way still hosting and emulation can happen with out any flaw
  5. If required the user can revert to access point method itself from a web page itself

Please let me know your thought on this

Added the option to Connect to the chip to local host , from PS4 itself.
So when booted initially the user can connect to the default Access Point for Chip
If required from PS4, user can updated their Wifi Information and make the chip as a node in their local network
