Request for Comments: Skyplane On Prem

Thanks for trying Skyplane out! At the moment, Skyplane is optimized for bucket to bucket transfers. We are working to develop new support for on prem to cloud transfers.

Skyplane would support faster transfers to/from object stores:

• skyplane cp local_path s3://bucket/prefix
• skyplane cp s3://bucket/prefix local_path

Some potential use cases:

• Cloud machine learning where datasets need to get copied from a local machine to a cloud VM
• Disaster recovery and business continuity support to back up local data to the cloud

We will continue to evolve this page with new design details, but we would appreciate comments on potential use cases as well as early feedback.
