The idea is to introduce achievements into SkyLines. A pilot can unlock those by several actions either in-flight or by interacting with the SkyLines platform. The reason for adding these achievements is to increase cross-country flight motivation and SkyLines adoption by providing something like a checklist of things that you haven't done before.


Here are two lists of ideas how these achievements could look like:

SkyLines related:

  • Using Live Tracking for the first time, 3rd time, 5th, 10th, ...
  • Uploading your first IGC file, your 3rd, your 5th, 10th, ...
  • Adding comments (might lead to misuse and spam...)
  • Having your first follower, 3rd, 5th, 10th, ...

Flight related:

  • (Final) glide of more than 10km, 20km, 30km, 50km, 75km, 100km
  • 6-leg Distance of more than 50km, 100km, 200km, 300km, 500km, 750km, 1000km
  • 2-leg Distance of more than 50km, 100km, 200km, 300km, 500km, 750km, 1000km
  • Triangle of more than 50km, 100km, 200km, 300km, 500km, 750km, 1000km
  • Flight duration of more than 3h, 5h, 7h, 10h, 12h, 15h
  • Altitude gain over 1000m, 2000m, 3000m, 4000m, 5000m
  • First outlanding, 3rd, 5th, 10th, ...
  • Circling percentage on a long flight (> 300km) under 30%, 25%, 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%
  • Flights from 5 different airfields, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, ...
  • Spending 30min below 400m AGL, 45min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 180min, ...

Official FAI badges:

  • Silver Badge: Altitude gain over 1000m, 1-leg Distance over 50km, Duration over 5h
  • Gold Badge: Altitude gain over 3000m, Declared 6-leg Distance over 300km, Duration over 5h
  • Free Distance Diamond: Silver-C, 6-leg Distance over 500km
  • Goal Distance Diamond: Silver-C, Declared 2-leg or 3-leg Distance over 300km
  • Height Diamond: Silver-C, Altitude gain over 5000m
