the button to refresh timeline markers seems like an unnecessarily separate operation, it could be invisible and performed with each change that changes a transition.
This is to avoid wasting space in the interface and to be able to devote it to new and useful functions.

I like the separate button... it allows me to select any animations i had already keyframed outside of the skybrush automation at their old position. Then I refresh the timeline markers and move them to the appropriate new position.

Request timeline be auto updated only on Appending a new formation. Comment from xxscornxx makes sense.

Do you think that this is a setting that you would change frequently (i.e. the conditions that specify when the timeline markers should be updated), or is it more like a user-specific preference that you set up once to your liking and then leave it that way?

If the latter, then we can add a setting to the add-on settings in the Preferences pane, with the following options (feel free to add more if you have suggestions):

  • Never update timeline markers automatically
  • Update timeline markers automatically when adding a new item to the storyboard
  • Update timeline markers automatically whenever the storyboard changes

It's hard to get the last one right, we might miss a few corner cases, but we can at least support adding new storyboard items, removing existing storyboard items, and moving them around.

For me personally -- one time preference -- of having it auto update on Append - your middle bullet
