Problem: There are multiple instances of the dokimion application deployed. Each instance has its own database of user ids and passwords. A user that works across mutiple dokimion instances has to keep their user account consistent manually.
Solution: The SIL Identify provider (IdP) could be the one place where a user's
account info is stored. Manual consistency of user's passwords between dokimion instances would no longer be needed.
Question: Would this work with developers from other bible translation organizations without a SIL email address?
Explanation for SIL Administrator:
Dokimion is a Java/Javascript application. Both of those would have SAML libraries, I'm sure, but I have no personal experience with that. Here are some of our SAML requirements for Service Providers: https://gateway.sil.org/pages/viewpage.action?spaceKey=SGPBP&title=GTIS+Minimum+SAML+Requirements. We're also looking into the approval process for new SP apps.
