@JaapSijben What's the issue you're encountering on Big Sur? I'm using Max on Monterey just fine - are you using the latest pre-release version?

I'm also having problemas. When I drop more than a single music file on the File Conversion window, Max crashes. Dropping a single file still works, but is not practical when you have hundreds of file to convert.
I'm using Max 0.9.2b4 (25) on Big Sur 11.6.7.
UPDATE - The problem happens whit any number of files, even a single one, and only if the file name has any non-ASCII character. It also doesn't matter if you drop the file or select it by hand. In my case the filename culprit contained a character with umlaut (dieresis): ä. Since most of my files are of Portuguese and German origin, you see why this matters. Users from countries with non-Latin character sets are completely lost. To work around one needs to rename everything as Track0, Track1 etc. , convert them with Max after a proper selection, and them rename each resulting one back (using metadata or any other way to store the original names, which may not be the song titles). Please check if you can fix this. Thanks.

I've tested 0.9.2b4 (25) and haven't been able to duplicate the behavior on Catalina 12.4. I renamed a wave file to "üîé.wav" and Max worked as expected. Would you be able to send me a crash log so I can take a look? Does that filename crash Max on your system?

I'm still on Big Sur. The Unicode issue happens not only when a file has a accented character, but when any upper directory has such names. It took me long time to get this. For example, when I drop the file /Users/jaccoud/Music/blogs/unpacked/Telemann\ -\ Brockes\ Passion\ -\ René\ Jacobs/CD1/01.\ 1.\ Sinfonia.ape on Max's File Conversion Window, it crashes because of the single é in the path. Renaming René to Rene solves the case for this file, but I had to manually remove every Umlaut and ß from all track names (tags are preserved). Didn't have this problem with previous versions, so this may have something to do with recent OS changes. I'm far from home where I have a Mojave setting, will check as soon as I fly back.
