Motivated by RedShelf reselling CoCalc licenses to Universities, we just created a new voucher system. The basic requirement for RedShelf was that they could obtain a large list of voucher codes, sell some of them to students (e.g., along with a textbook for a course), the students could then redeem their voucher for a 3-month CoCalc license, and we would invoice RedShelf later for the vouchers that were actually used. Our voucher system solves this problem and more.
We also designed vouchers so anybody can purchase vouchers for any non-subscription items they add to their shopping cart. These self-service purchases receive a 25% discount, and the corresponding vouchers can be redeemed up to 10 years in the future. This could be useful if you're integrating CoCalc into another product, e.g., a technical hiring platform or a data science platform, or just want an easy to way to make a single purchase now (with the last of your grant funds) so you can easily share CoCalc licenses for the next few years with your colleagues and future self.
Vouchers also make it very easy for CoCalc Admins to provide free trial licenses. You read this far and you're interested, so contact us with any questions or if you would like a free voucher code to help us test this new feature!
