the next desirable thing would be to add comments to the ticket...

Would be easy enough, but once you also want to change other trac fields its easier to use a browser IMHO. There is the sage-dev script way of having you edit a text file and then save it and parse out the changes, which is a rather poor UI.

Given how addictive www-browsing is, not having to open a browser is an important feature...
