executing make generated the command which fails:

cc -Wall -libverbs -lrdmacm -lpthread rdcp.c -o rdcp

moving rdcp.c as first argument seems to work
cc rdcp.c -Wall -libverbs -lrdmacm -lpthread -o rdcp
