The following step is also necessary on Windows:
python -m pip install docutils pygments pypiwin32 kivy.deps.sdl2 kivy.deps.glew

I also ended up installing netifaces binary from here. Choose the right version for your version of Python. Otherwise one could spend hours installing Microsoft Build Tools, fighting missing files, etc
