Per #104 there is a request to add a machine configuration for the Dell XPS x1e platform.

The patches used by Ubuntu for the XPS can be found here: https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-concept/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/oracular/log/?h=x1e-6.12/201-dell-xps

To support this request, we would likely need:

  • In flight kernel patches for XPS added to our recipe
  • A USB installer image
  • Grub support (maybe this can be done with systemd-boot rather)
  • A recipe for the firmware-extract tool used on the Ubuntu installation in order to gather the firmware from the WoA side.

Just opening this issue to track the progress and start the discussion.

Hi, @EmbeddedAndroid
Could you kindly provide an update on the plan or the expected completion timeline? Having this information will help me plan accordingly.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Best Regards,
John

Hi @JohnGoogl,

We are trying to procure the hardware (we don't have an XPS 13), once we have that in house, we will have a better idea of timeframe. I'll update this issue once hardware is received.

Thanks,

Tyler
