GitHub Strategy

As the primary platform used in the podcast's production and documentation it is important to develop a presence on GitHub. The following are examples of our efforts to create this presence:

Twitter Strategy - #PlainTxtPodcast

Because Twitter has been the commanding social media platform for the field of Digital Humanities, especially in recent years, it is important to maintain engagement with audiences on Twitter. The decision to not make a unique profile for the podcast and to instead use the hashtag is based on the work I have already done creating a presence on Twitter's platform. As of today, I have a following of over 600 people with these interests (almost all relative to the theme/topics of this podcast):
screenshot of @bcpkr396 Twitter audience interests: dogs 99%, science news 95%, weather 94%, space & astronomy 94%, technology 86%, comedy 84%, tech news 84%, national parks 81%, Books news and general info 74%, and Government 73%

Public Twitter analytics for my Twitter account - @bcpkr396 - are available on Social Blade
Here are some examples of how the podcast will engage with the Twitter-sphere:

#DigitalHumanities Presence:

"How to establish a podcast
It may sound straightforward, but there’s more to it than just grabbing a microphone. We’re looking for someone that can outline the key questions one needs to consider, and sustainable solutions to help newbies make the plunge. Issues such as how to edit, host, distribute, and build an audience would be welcome." -- the Programming Historian website

Layers of Engagement

Habit building requires commitment. The more you choose to engage the more likely you are to develop a habit in whatever committing to. The plain.txt podcast delivers a highly documented experiment of engagement and in its development has revealed a model for making habit of knowledge creation. Here are the levels of plain.txt podcast engagement -
Level 1 - read|watch podcast tweets|social media stories|posts; engage with podcast social media profiles (engage with short mixed media - a social media bit could be just text, just image, just video, just audio or any combination of the four)
Level 1 - listen to the podcast; a streaming bit could be just audio (soundcloud & future streaming sites) or audio and visual (YouTube)

Level 2 - both level 1 engagements
Level 2 - reading the plain text transcriptions on plaintxtpodcast.com (get a feel for the language/ styling

Level 3 - interact with podcast social media prompts- inspiration sessions/interviews
Level 3 - advance to reading the debriefed transcripts with links and emojis (in the GitHub wiki)

Level 4 - forking and creating own podcast
Level 4 - forking or contributing in some way to the accessibility advancements of the plain.txt podcast website, GitHub, streaming, etc.
