may i use this in smarty engine v2 , the last version. ?

Sorry I didn't see this before!
I imagine this is way too late, but I don't know if this will work with Smarty 2. If I remember correctly, I only used it with Smarty 3.
In the end, did yout try it? If so, did you encounter some issues?
