Sorry if this has already been asked/turned down, is there any chance we could get subtitle support and a hotkey to cycle $1,$2,$Both?

It hasn’t been asked before. I think it’s a good idea, but it’s just not something I’ll do. I’m happy to accept pull requests, though.

You can already draw subtitles on top of both videos using the subtitles video filter. This filter requires the FFmpeg libraries to be compiled with --enable-libass. I’ve tested it, and it works with Homebrew:

video-compare -l subtitles=video1_subs.srt -r subtitles=video2_subs.srt video1.mp4 video2.mp4

I believe it should also work with the Windows build.
