How about using an exisiting database, that might have a huge collection of hashes, to validate the integrity of those files that are still found in the file system.
Allow to specify directory path that somehow replaces the parts of the absolute file paths, that might no longer exists.
For example when a hard drive has failed and files are recovered in some other path than the original.
