I am a little loss on how to really 'start' things. I can guess the very 'general location' and see something new above. But beyond that I'm fairly lost.

There's a popup on the title screen saying a new exhibit has been added to the museum. That should point you towards the start of the mod.

Aaah Ok thank you!. I think I know how I missed it. I had to verify integrity after I installed the mod to fix the game and it spammed the 'something was added' message a few times. So I had thought I bugged it to do that for the Echos of the Eye notification.
