I've tried to run 1.40, but failed because of scikit-fmm, which is not compatible with Python 3.12 that is (as of this date) the default Linux release on Arch Linux.
There is the option of installing an entire Python 3.11 environment and all of the required modules and dependencies, but this is a bit much effort because of a single dependency.
Since there probably is a good reason for using FMM in the first place, but due to the amount of requirements involved I herewith suggest considering shipping Ortho4XP releases as an appimage (or flatpaks or snaps) with all required dependencies to futureproof against out of date modules.
