Unable to commit to a repo, despite having the GPG key setup and added to account.

I am unable to commit to a repo even though i have the GPG key setup and added to my account.
Getting the error:
gpg: signing failed: secret key not available
error: gpg failed to sign the data
fatal: failed to write commit object

I did list the keys and did the git config global to add the key. But still didn't work for me.
Please advise.
