Students can't pull updated starter code (git pull results in "already up to date"

Hi, I am relatively new to github classroom (2nd year). I have made and update and pushed to a class assignment's started code repository. I see the update was successful but when students try to pull from the remote branch (main), it says already up to date. Also, when I try to sync the assigment, I get the error below:

ErrorFailed to open 33 of 33 pull requests. This may mean that pull requests to sync your changes have already been successfully opened to your students repositories. If this is not the case, please try again or contact support.

Any suggestions?

Successful Push but Students See "Already Up to Date":

• Possible Cause: The updates might have been pushed to a different branch than the one students are tracking (usually main).
• Another Possibility: GitHub Classroom might have already attempted to sync the changes, but there was an error preventing completion.

Thank you so much for your helpful response.
I checked if the changes were made to a different branch and it looks like there is only one branch, main

I also checked if there were any errors preventing the completion of the commit but the repository is up to date with the most recent changed I pushed.

I tried syncing again and still get the same error

I am going to replicate this project and test. Hopefully I overlooked something and I will not get the same syncing issue.

Maybe I am misunderstanding. After trying to sync again, I get the error posted above. I do not see any errors while trying to commit. The repository is updated. What error should I share?

okay, I get your idea, but this troubleshooting will take some steps to do..

Please do this steps in the following ranking

1. Verify that your changes are correctly pushed to the main branch in the starter repository.
2. Ensure the GitHub Classroom assignment is correctly linked to this updated repository.
3. Check for and resolve any existing or stale PRs that might be blocking synchronization.
4. Make a minor additional commit to trigger a new synchronization attempt.
5. Retry syncing the assignment after verifying the above steps.

6. Guide students to ensure their local repositories are correctly set up and, if necessary, reset their main branch.
7. Monitor GitHub's status for any service disruptions or rate limiting issues. ## this already been done, but check it one more time
8. If all else fails, contact GitHub Support with detailed information about the issue.
9. As a last resort, consider recreating the assignment with a new starter repository.

Note: sorry for the delaying in providing answers, I do this in my free time, and I don't have a lot of it.
