We are excited to announce the rollout of our latest feature: Customized Badges! 🏆

What’s New?
With this new feature, you can now create and customize badges to highlight your achievements, contributions, and milestones in a way that best represents you and your work. So you can share to the social media tagging us and get some attention from the potential recruiters.

Key Features:

Shareable: Easily share your badges on social media and other platforms to showcase your achievements.

How to Get Started?

Navigate to the Leaderboard: https://gssoc.girlscript.tech/leaderboard
Hover over to the side of your score.

Now it will show you all the badge you have recieved so far, click one of the badge you will see option to download and share, click on download if you want to get it has image.

Save and display your new badge on your LinkedIn or Twitter Tech community. Optionally you can include it in your GitHub Readme profile as well.

First 1000 people who shares the badge on social media will be getting Free XYZ domain coupons from us.

use the tags gssoc, gssocbadge, girlscript when you share on social media.

I wanted to share some thoughts on the new badges feature, which I believe can make it even better.

Spelling Adjustment

Firstly, I think we can change the spelling of "Conqueror" by adding an 'e' between 'u' and 'r'. This small adjustment makes the word look more polished and appealing. 📝

Topic Name Change

Additionally, we could modify the title "GSSoC 2024 Top performers" to "GSSoC 2024 Top 3 performers". This change clarifies the distinction and highlights the top achievers more prominently. 🌟

Emoji Enhancement

Lastly, adding trophy emojis 🏆 to the top 3 contributors' profile logos would be a fun and visually engaging way to celebrate their accomplishments. This small touch can add a lot of excitement and recognition for our top performers.

Feature Appreciation

This innovative addition is a fantastic way for contributors to visually represent their achievements and milestones. 🏅

Social Media Sharing

The ability to customize and share badges on social media is a game-changer. 🌟 It not only allows us to proudly showcase our hard work but also helps in attracting potential recruiters, giving our profiles an extra edge. 🚀

My Fav one

The incentive for the first 1000 users to receive free XYZ domain coupons is a brilliant idea, adding an extra layer of motivation for participation. 🎁 I’m confident this will drive more engagement and enthusiasm within the community. 🎉

Most of the things have been said by other fellow commenters as well, however adding or emphasising the ones I feel are important

Fun and Interactive Concept. Will build engagement
Giving some of my feedbacks for the badge announcements. It's a very fun and interesting concept, which will improve more engagement amongst the open-source contributors.

Improving Sharing Options
When I clicked the sharing option, I was expecting it to show me features to directly share on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram. However, it was not the case. I am on mac, so I am not sure if it's a mac compatibility issue or not. A window user might be able to confirm if it works well for them, but adding the feature would be definitely a great and convenient help, as also pointed out before

Showcasing all the badges next one's username, rather than just one badge
I got two badges but only 1 is visible next to my username in the leaderboard. Maybe it would be better to flaunt our achievements if all badges are shown in line next to each other? That would be my suggestion

hey @Leena2403

The share button is actually designed to trigger the inbuilt share feature of your device, its kind of restricted in Windows as well, it can share to the apps that were installed on your device only, i.e I have Instagram and Linkedin and whatsapp installed in my pc and I can only share to those 3 apps, (i mean apps installed from microsoft store).

similiarly on your mobile device you can share to all the installed applications.
It's the same pop up menu that you get when you click on the share button on a image in your gallery.
