Currently we have no way to track what hydrophone hardware is being used at each location, and how it's changed over time. A simple first version of this would be to add a text field for hardware configuration under each feed, along with a date range. The more advanced approach would be to come up with a structured schema for specifying things like:

  • Hydrophone model(s)
  • Audio channels
  • Software configuration (e.g. sample rate, research vs streaming node type, other Orcanode environment variables)

We have historically used a "Field Notes" Gsheet for this sort of metadata. More recently I've experimented with adding hydrophone make & model to the Dataplicity descriptions --
