Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

This is a sub issue for #12567. We have introduced remote store path type in customData in IndexMetadata as part of #12608. We are also introducing hash function that should be possible to change if we want to in the future. Hence, we need the support so that in future we can offer ability to the user to change hashing algorithm as we add more algorithms.
