Having the date in the header causes typographical issues/inconsistencies (#59, #199) and creates too strict a format, stopping people from adding e.g. times to the heading (#375).
I have found that I naturally follow this spec, but I deviate mainly in how I put my dates into the changelog doc, prefering to place dates in italics under the heading (example). This stops the date from being slapped into your face, as the date is mostly secondary information after the more important version number, and also allows for easy section header linking (#100, #101, etc). Overall having dates below the heading instead of in it just feels tidier when scrolling through a changelog.
Is the heading format set it stone, or could this idea be considered?
