Isidor here from the VS Code team,

We noticed that this extension has not be updated in a long time. Is it deprecated?
If yes, we can mark it as deprecated. More details can be found here https://code.visualstudio.com/api/working-with-extensions/publishing-extension#deprecating-extensions

@nobuhito Would you like to add me as a collaborator to this repository or help me transfer the repository so we could continue developing this extension again?
@isidorn If repository gets transferred, is there a way to to transfer also the needed parts in the marketplace so that existing users wouldn't get affected by the repo change?

@janilahti we could add you as a collaborator to the old extension. Full extension transfer is not supported yet.

For now I will go ahead and mark this extension as deprecated. If there is new work we can un-deprecate it.

@isidorn

Can you point me to the user agreement or publishing terms that allow VS Code team members, such as yourself, to deprecate an extension?

Does deprecation of an extension require the extension publisher's explicit consent?

Also, how does the VS Code team decide on what other/actively-maintained extension "deprecates" an extension?

2022-12-28_153630_prtsc

Is the officially linked pdconsec.vscode-print something the deprecated-extension author (@nobuhito) suggested or consented to?

Is there anywhere that the VS Code team publically logs or announces or records their deprecation activities, such as this extension's deprecation?

@isidorn That's ok. I didn't receive any reply from the repository owner, but received a plea of not continuing this from a developer of another similar extension. Deprecating this abandoned extension gives more visibility to the other one that's still being maintained.

It has been a while since I visited Github and I was surprised to see it in a state I had not considered. I realize that it is easy to publish a program, but it is hard to keep maintaining it.
As for my current situation, I have become so busy with my original job that I hardly write any code these days.
I used to want to continue maintenance, but it was difficult to respond to issues that did not reproduce in my environment, so I gradually stopped opening Github. Also, I am not good at replying in English, which is not my native language.
Thanks for all the help from @janilahti . Now I would like to give this repository away, but I guess it is already too late.
Is the other extension functional enough for you? If so, I will remove this extension.

@evdcush you can find all the info here microsoft/vscode-discussions#1

@janilahti @nobuhito once you settle on a solution do let me know if we should mark this extension as deprecated. Thanks
