English Words List / Dictionary Word List - Plain Text

A collection of English wordlists generated using SCOWL/GNU Aspell. The largest list includes 676K English words.

All files are in UTF-8 format, in a simple new-line-delimited text file.

Text files included

The largest text file includes 676,792 words. This wordlist includes words:

  • with and without diacritical marks,
  • roman-numerals,
  • seldomly used spelling variants,
  • all English spelling variants—American, British (-ise/-ize), Canadian, and Australian.

The text file includes 675,508 words. This wordlist includes words:

  • with and without diacritical marks,
  • roman-numerals,
  • seldomly used spelling variants,
  • all English spelling variants—American, British (-ise/-ize), Canadian, and Australian.

This text file includes 657,803 words. This wordlist includes words:

  • Only United States English (en_us) spelling,
  • no rare spelling variants,
  • includes Roman Numerals.

This text file includes 663,213 words. This wordlist includes words:

  • Only United States English (en_us) spelling,
  • ALL rare spelling variants,
  • includes Roman Numerals AND diacritical marks.
