What are the actions generated when the user creates a new project? #64

Not an issue, but more a question.
When the user is creating a new project, it seems that the whole UI is somehow reset.
What is the effect on a plugin, and in particular one with a Panel?
I believe the Panel receives a message to close itself, then to re-open itself, but it is unclear for me how.
Any clue welcome!
