after about a year and a half of using this ugen regularly in sound design, i have some thoughts:

  • i don't like the "stereo" argument anymore. it's too metallic, so i always turn it up to 1. that will probably need complete redesign. i admit that my 2x2 FDN idea was a misguided attempt at making this verb feel "original," so i want to look into alternative methods for controlling stereo width.
  • i wasn't especially diligent when it comes to delay line tuning and i would like to revisit that eventually.
  • on synthetic signals (the main use case for the reverb is for electronic music), it sounds best with heavy modulation. with better tuning it might sound better with low modulation settings.
  • it's pretty grainy and hard to make it sound good on transient signals, but i consider that part of the character of this topology, so i won't specifically try to address that unless i write a new reverb.
  • edit: is it just me or is the right channel a db or two louder than the left even with balanced input?

unlikely that i'll get around to these in the near future but i thought i'd dump some info on what i would improve if i had time.
