For Linux you have to use projectM https://github.com/projectM-visualizer
I'm still unsure if you can run MD3 with Wine or a similar program on Linux though.

Ok, thanks a lot for your reactivity. I will look up ProjectM. I'll keep you posted if I happen to run it on wine.

On current Ubuntu, this fails to run on wine. I get an error with the shader, because it's a "buggy" DirectX, IIRC. I can get the program to launch but it quits because it cannot render.
