Can't copy links from Google Chrome address bar, but from everywhere else #1301

Windows build number: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.22631.0
Distribution version: Ubuntu 24.04
WSL Version: 2.4.4
Chrome Version: 131.0.6778.85

Description

Copying links from Chromes address bar is not possible. Other Chromium based browsers or at least Brave, do not have this issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Google Chrome stable.
  2. Try to copy links from address bar
  3. Link will be added to clipboard but only inside Chrome window
  4. Outside of the Chrome window the clipboard will either be emptied or out of date

Workaround

Either copy the link INSIDE Chrome to any text box on a page, or open the search box using Ctrl+F, paste the link there and then copy it again. Only then the link will be added to the clipboard globally.

The other workaround is to enable the "Copy link" button inside Chromes toolbar (Settings > Appearance > Customize your toolbar). The button properly copies the link of the current page.

same issue here.
running google-chrome-stable --ozone-platform=wayland it is impossible to copy from address bar, but works when right click to a link and clicking in Copy link address.
Copying works fine with other programs (like vscode) running under wayland.
