I had to struggle a lot until I found out the reason why my subsystem (ubuntu) could not connect to the internet, e.g. when I tried to do an 'apt update' or something similar.
The reason was finally clear: it was trying to connect via my LAN network adapter and not via the WLAN adapter, which I am currently only using. The former is simply unplugged.
So how can I change the default adapter? It's so hard to find where to configure it.
