Hello 👋🏻

I am a PhD student at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. I am currently working in collaboration with Pythia developers to bring in Pythia in the landscape of hadronic interaction models for air shower studies. The ongoing work is focused on a tune based on hadrons (charged pions, charged kaons, (anti-)proton) spectra from pion-carbon collisions at NA61/SHINE energies. The next step would be to investigate the effect that this newly tuned version of Pythia would have on the muon fluxes.

As of now Pythia is not supported in MCEq and therefore we can't compute these muon fluxes yet. I would like to motivate the need for this Pythia 8.3/MCEq interface. From what I was told, one would need to run Pythia for a large range of energies and compute cross sections to fill in tables/matrix for it to become part of the MCEq database. Could you teach me or point me out how to build this contribution to the MCEq database for Pythia?

Thank you in advance,
Chloé Gaudu
