What The Hack - Power Platform Basics

Introduction

The Power Platform Basics What The Hack will enable your team to leverage Microsoft’s Low Code Power Platform to solve business problems, reduce technical debt, and create a new role of Citizen Developer.

Learning Objectives

In this hack you will be solving business problems that many companies face by replacing their legacy systems. The new systems will be able to:

  • Enable Power Platform automation using AI Builder
  • Build an approval process with Power Automate
  • Build a Power Platform Canvas App
  • Native integration with Teams
  • Enable Power Platform automation using Virtual Agents
  • Report statistics using Power BI

Challenges

  • Challenge 01: Power Platform Environment
    • The Power Platform Basics What The Hack will enable your team to leverage Microsoft’s Low Code Power Platform to solve business problems, reduce technical debt, and take on the role of Citizen Developer.
  • Challenge 02: Build an AI Model to extract Order Data
    • In this challenge you will explore AI Builder data models
  • Challenge 03: Extract Order Data to Dataverse Using Power Automate
    • Next you will model the data and extract data from sample Order forms so we can use it in the Power Automate Flow.
  • Challenge 04: Automation – Approval Process
    • With the order data stored in Dataverse you will next set up a multi-level approval process using Power Automate Flow.
  • Challenge 05: Build a Power App
    • In this challenge, you will create a Power App to support Order and Customer Management
  • Challenge 06: Teams Integration
    • To support collaboration and ease of access, you will embed the canvas app directly in Microsoft Teams
  • Challenge 07: Power BI Reporting and Integration
    • Now that Tailspin Toys staff is able to streamline their processes for customer orders, their management has requested some new Power BI features that will enhance their reporting, recognize trends in their data, and provide better analytics
  • Challenge 08: Power Virtual Agent Chatbot
    • In this challenge, you will create a customer service chatbot for greeting, answering FAQs, and to support Order queries from Customers and Account Managers
  • Challenge 09: Application Lifecycle Management
    • Your challenge is to export all your development work from your dev environment as preperation for import to the test environment

Prerequisites

  • Your own O365 E3 with Global Admin access
  • Trials of Power Apps, Power Automate, AI Builder, Power Virtual Agent, Power BI Pro
  • Power BI Desktop
  • The desire to develop and enhance your Power Platform skills
