<h5>Semi-rigid cantilever beam (Fall 2015)</h5>
<p>Final project for the MSc course "Fluid Dynamics using the Lattice Boltzmann Method" taught by Prof. Dr. Ilya Karlin at ETH Zürich. <br>
The chosen topic was to simulate a two-dimensional flow of a semi-rigid cantilever beam. Using the<a href="http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0021999115002636" target="_blank"> Grad's approximation </a> the deflection of the beam can be modeled and results compared to a simple Euler-Bernoulli beam. This simulation was written in C++ from a provided base framework and adapted to be compatible with <a href="http://www.cgal.org/" target="_blank">CGAL</a>. The simulation was built up by incrementally verifying the correctness in the following order;<ol><li>Flow past a stationary cylinder</li><li>Flow past a transversely oscillating cylinder</li><li>Deflection of a semi-rigid cantilever beam</li></ol>
