Show notifications?

I'm planning to use my USB screen to show OSX notifications.
I've seen this project https://github.com/Who23/nchook and my plan is to generate a bmp file with the content of the notification, app icon, etc. and send it to the screen for a few seconds, then switch to the regular hw monitoring or perhaps a custom bmp with the weather or just a picture or just a black screen.
Is there something like this out there?
