The customizer is a WordPress screen in which you can change settings, which are mostly layout related. The changes in these settings are immediately visible. Waterfall adds many additional customizer fields, so the layout for content can be tweaked into detail.

Usually, you find your customizer on http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/customize.php. Obviously, swap yourdomain.com for your own domain.

Customizer Settings

So what kind of settings are added to the customizer by the Waterfall theme?

  • Under General, you can change the maximum width of the content, button border-radius and enable lightbox for linked images.
  • Under Site Identity, options for a logo, transparent logo, mobile logo and footer logo can be set-up.
  • Under Theme Colors, you can change the colours for almost any section or text such as the header, links and so forth.
  • Under Theme Layout, you can change layout settings for the Header, the Footer, Archives, the Search Page, the 404 Page, and each type of custom post type or page. This allows you to modify the place of the header, of titles, of featured images, of sharing buttons, of related posts, and so forth. If a new post type is registered, a new customizer settings panel for this post type is automatically added by Waterfall.
  • Under Typography, the typography for almost any section of the website can be changed.
  • Under Woocommerce (visible if the Woocommerce plugin is active), Waterfall adds additional options for the layout of products and catalogue pages.
  • Under Social Media, you can add the details for your social media platforms.

Adding new customizer fields

As a developer, you can also manually add new customizer fields. Please visit Extending Configurations for more information on this.
