I've found that my logstash instance isn't doing reverse lookups for IP addresses if messages come in through the syslog input.

Have I configured it incorrectly, or is this a bug in logstash? My other inputs are happily converting IP addresses to hostnames.

Thanks, I didn't know about the DNS filter.

This feels like an inconsistency -- I have a range of inputs, and only my syslog events aren't looked up. However, using the DNS filter is perfectly fine.

Is this worth fixing? If not, I'm happy to close.
