also the "dont show again" button (dont remember what it was) doesn't work, at all

If you click No, it shouldn't notify for that version again, are you saying this doesn't work? What version are you on?
If you don't want update notifications, disable it in settings panel.

Thank you I didn't know about that check for updates checkbox. I am currently on the latest version so there are no updates for me to check with the prompt but I remember after clicking no it still popped up after reboot (multiple different times this was not a one time occurrence). I think I have notifications disabled as github didn't notify me about you replying for some reason I will check after this.
anyway if the update problem still occurs I will reply to this issue, thanks.
