This is Liberapay's monthly "what's up?" thread. Previous: #1.

I launched the site a few hours ago, that's what's up! :D

Setting up hosting on OpenShift was time-consuming, and right now our app can't even auto-scale, but we're not paying for it, and we have great control over of the server, so it's still a good deal. :-)

My focus is on fixing stuff and announcing the launch. Ideally we would get enough people to sign up so that our first payday next Wednesday will move a non-negligible amount of money. That would be a strong indicator that we're on the right track, but it'll be difficult to reach and convince people this fast.

As you may have noticed I've spent our first week mostly handling Bug, DevX, and Bug Prevention issues, so there hasn't been much progress on UI improvements and new features, but hopefully that will change in the coming days and weeks.

Although password reset is, strictly speaking, a new feature, it's not what I was hoping to work on, because it's not a cool thing that is appealing to users, it's boring stuff that has been implemented lots of times by other developers for other websites and that I shouldn't have to do.

I stumbled upon a newcomer on the recurrent donations scene: OpenCollective. It's yet another startup, who takes a 5% cut (on top of payment processing fees). It looks like they're going with the umbrella-organization model and implementing something similar to liberapay/liberapay.com#64.

An agreement has been reached on what to do with Aspen (the web framework we use): it's been moved into its own AspenWeb organization (it was in Gratipay's before) and its code is going to be cleaned up and split into several packages.

Liberapay now has a #PHP community: https://liberapay.com/for/PHP/ It was started by @mcihar, maintainer of #phpMyAdmin. :-) #FreeSoftware

So far so good, the total fees in MangoPay match what we have in our DB:

I've also asked MangoPay if we're computing payout fees correctly, and they said that checking the bank account's country code is "perfect". They added that we should also take currency into account, but since we only support euros at the moment (liberapay/liberapay.com#182) the currency is a constant.
