Socket closed error while excuting a good number of queries from Stored Procedure

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I have to save an image to database in encoded string format. After
creating the encoded string for image, I am executing multiple insert
queries in multiple rows.
2. Stored procedure query :
IN daybookImageSrc MEDIUMTEXT; //encoded image string passes as parameter
TRUNCATE TABLE daybookimage; //table having data column of type varchar(20480) 

    SET data = SUBSTR(daybookImageSrc,1,20480);
    WHILE LENGTH(data) > 0 DO
        INSERT INTO daybookimage SET daybookimage.data = data;
        SET daybookImageSrc = SUBSTR(daybookImageSrc,20480);
        SET data = SUBSTR(daybookImageSrc,1,20480);
    END WHILE;
3. Socket closed automatically and generate socket closed Error for large
size image like wallpapers(1024X768). However it is working fine with small
size images.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Large size images should be saved without any error. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
