Shortcut commands not working with VSCode

I can't get the keyboard shortcuts to work with VSCode app (from Google store). They work when connecting a physical keyboard to the phone but when using Hacker's Keyboard app, ctrl and alt commands don't do anything (i did enable them in app settings).
