Zoom is a closed-source videoconferencing platform that attracted negative attention early in 2023 for its terms of service revisions that grant the company the ability to use some user data for training AI models. (The company clarified in August 2023 that it does not use audio, video, or chat data for training models.)
Proposed Solution
Adopt an alternative videoconferencing host that does not capture user data for AI model training. Such a host would need to have client support for all major operating systems, including Linux and mobile OSes. The host should also allow for administrative control over attendees, screen sharing, and recording meetings for publication to other platforms, such as YouTube.
