Teamcity::Cucumber::Formatter deprecated formatter not able to be used in Cucumber 4.0

With the advancements made in Cucumber 4.0, Teamcity is not able to work when trying to run Cucumber 4.0 reports.
below is the warning that is printed in Cucumber 3.1.2 "WARNING’ about the formatter that Teamcity::Cucumber::Formatter is using is a deprecated formatter API and will be removed in Cucumber 4.0.". When upgrading to 4.0 the script does not even get past the require 'cucumber'.
